The first in Ukraine sketchbook with an open binding. On the cover is the painting «The Starry Night» by the well-known Dutch Impressionist Vincent van Gogh.
One of the most famous paintings was created during a difficult period in the life of the great artist. He was undergoing treatment in Saint-Paul-de-Mausole, a hospital for the mentally ill, where Vincent ended up after a quarrel with Gauguin and the loss of his left ear lobe. He painted this artwork in the hospital studio in just one day. The canvas shows the view from the eastern bedroom window, which Van Gogh wrote about to his brother Theo in May 1889: «Through the iron bars I can see an enclosed field of wheat, over which, in the morning, the sun rises in all its beauty».
A curious fact — the village depicted on the slopes of the Alpine foothills was invented by the artist. In Van Gogh’s other sketches, you can see the real view — the clean, spacious meadows of Provence, which in reality surrounded the asylum.
