Description
Manuscript sketchbook «Piven 2014» from the series«Ukrainian Art»
The first in Ukraine sketchbook with an open binding. The cover features a painting «Harmony» by Ukrainian artist Volodymyr Piven.
We all live in a time when contemporary art is commonly equated with something strange and incomprehensible—something that can be understood only by studying the author’s life, as well as their habits and favorite themes in pop culture. Something where it’s important to know the social agenda of a particular region. Something that may not evoke deep emotions, but requires respect simply because of the topic the author has brought up.
Volodymyr Piven’s philosophy is the opposite of what’s described above. Real art shouldn’t be a confusing riddle. «Sincerity», «convincingness», «positive energy»—that’s exactly how Volodymyr Piven describes his work. To be delighted by the beauty of nature, you don’t need to study how it works. Likewise, art should deliver positive emotions, inspire and captivate with its beauty at first glance—without reading a curator’s note on the wall.
Volodymyr took a long creative journey—from a factory decorator artist, through detailed and realistic portraits and landscapes, to bold expressionism. But in order to admire the beauty of the painting «Harmony», we don’t necessarily need to know the author’s biography—about his love of birds that began after visiting the UK, or that these feathered creatures symbolize for Volodymyr spiritual striving and moving forward. To feel joy and warm emotions, it’s enough just to look at it.
80 cream unlined pages are perfect for liners, pencils, and pens. The sketchbooks open perfectly flat at 180 degrees and do not close arbitrarily thanks to the open binding. High-quality stitching and gluing make it possible to withstand even extreme loads, and the cover’s protective coating will extend the lifespan of your sketchbook. The set includes an insert with grid and line rulings for convenient writing and for creating charts, tables, precise models, etc.
Manuscript sketchbooks serve both as a wonderful working tool for artists, designers, programmers, managers, and as a fashionable accessory capable of inspiring creative feats.
