Description
Manuscript sketchbook «Kandinsky 1908» from the «Scape» series
First in Ukraine sketchbook with open binding. The cover features the artwork «View of Murnau» by Vasily Kandinsky, a great master of abstraction.
The painting is made in the format of landscape painting, absolutely uncharacteristic of the artist, who became famous for his abstract-geometric style. Seeing this painting in the Hermitage, you won’t immediately believe that it was created by Kandinsky’s own hand. But learning about the life of the genius of abstraction puts everything in its place, above all, over the «i». The point is that in 1895 the talented lawyer Vasily Kandinsky was so struck by Claude Monet’s painting «Haystacks» that he saw at a traveling exhibition of the Impressionists in Moscow that giving up all career prospects, at the age of 30 he begins actively studying the fine arts and taking up painting. The painting “View of Murnau” precisely conveys that same impression, those emotions, that “frozen motion” that he saw in Monet’s Impressionist style. Exactly that event became such a powerful impetus toward a creative life of the lawyer/artist.
It is also impossible not to mention Kandinsky’s contribution to our modern life. As a teacher at the legendary school of architecture and design «Bauhaus», he made an unimaginable contribution to what the modern world looks like. To prove the truth of this statement, it’s enough to name the people whose ideas, style, and inspiration were drawn from «Bauhaus» and Kandinsky: Dieter Rams (Braun), Paul Rand (IBM, ABC, Next), Steve Jobs (Apple, Next, Pixar), Jony Ive (Apple), and many others.
80 cream unlined pages are perfect for liners, pencils, and pens. The sketchbooks open perfectly flat at 180 degrees and do not close arbitrarily thanks to the open binding. High-quality stitching and gluing allow withstanding even extreme loads, and the protective cover coating will extend the service life of your sketchbook. The set includes an insert with grid and line ruling for convenient writing and creating graphs, tables, accurate drawings, etc.
Manuscript sketchbooks serve both as a great working tool for artists, designers, programmers, and managers, and as a fashion accessory capable of inspiring creative feats.
