Description

Manuscript sketchbook «Klimt 1907-1908» from the «Tenderness» series

First in Ukraine sketchbook with open binding. On the cover there are two paintings by the famous Austrian artist Gustav Klimt, namely «The Kiss» and «Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer 1».

Pride of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, an artist with an unmistakable style, a master of conveying human emotions—these are only a few of the countless epithets that come to mind when looking at Klimt’s work.

Born into a creative family and showing artistic inclinations from childhood, Gustav’s fate as an artist was predetermined. After finishing the most progressive, in terms of artistic education, Viennese school of arts and crafts, Klimt creates artistic decorative painting for the houses of wealthy Austro-Hungarians and accepts commissions for portraits. His works immediately became the subject of fierce disputes. The reason for this was the erotic character of the works with which Gustav challenged all the conservative society of that time.

Klimt repeatedly emphasized that he had no deep idea or philosophy in his works; he simply enjoyed drawing, especially women. In his creative work, he expressed himself, his vision of the world, and its beauty. All these, seemingly simple, ideas led to the emergence of the artist’s signature style, which is clearly visible in the paintings «The Kiss» and «Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer 1». Golden tones, symbolism close to Byzantine art, inspiration from the style of art nouveau, and fascination with female sexuality—this mix of feelings, emotions, and philosophies has resulted in works that captivate art lovers from all over the world.

80 cream unlined pages are perfect for liners, pencils, and pens. The Manuscript sketchbooks open flat to 180 degrees and do not close on their own thanks to the open binding.
